just be

Listening to the whisper of hope in our ears, seeing faith through open eyes, feeling the tug of God’s will on our heart, we begin a journey of love and compassion down a trail of service through a world of instability. In the journey of life many adventures present themselves; only a few are taken. Change happens only when an element in the equation is altered. An act by one or many will cause a chain reaction whose full effect can only be known by God. Change affects us all… “BE the Change YOU want to see in the World!” and journey with us though adventures taken and BE amazed at what happens through YOUR love and compassion.

Friends for L.I.F.E Garage Sale!

Who doesn't like a great garage sale! Especially one where the proceeds will help to save lives by providing clean drinking water for the people of Karare, Kenya. Friends for L.I.F.E. is making its debut by hosting a HUGE garage sale to support the clean drinking water project in Karare Kenya.

What’s Happening!
When: Sat/Sun April 25/26
When: 9am-5pm
Where: 22510 NE 19th Place Sammamish, 98074
Why: Provide clean water pump/well for Karare Kenya

To read about Friends for L.I.F.E. read on!
What is Friends for L.I.F.E. you ask?

Friends for L.I.F.E. (Live In Freedom Everyday) is a dynamic organization focused on positively impacting the lives of people living in Karare , Kenya .

Our mission is to build lasting relationships with Karare by targeting the specific needs of the people in this remote Kenyan community. As we work to provide resources for those needs, we will help Equip, Educate and Empower this wonderful community for L.I.F.E.

The water project is critical in that without clean water people can not live. The villagers of Karare have to walk over 6 miles one way for access to water. This water is from Paradise Lake; a naturally formed crater lake that also provides water for wild animals like elephants and water buffalo. This water is by no means clean, and there are many dangers that come from collecting it. Already a small boy has been shot and killed over acess to this water. Now is the time to provide resources for Karare to help this community gain access to clean driking water.

We've Been Busy - Updates Coming!

Hi!

Welcome to Sister Missions! Wondering what we've been up to since our Kenya trip this summer?

We are currently working on a fun update for all our readers as to our works since this summer. Look for articles on Seeds of Hope, Ignite, Jeanna and Jeremy's involvement in MCBB Angel's Night, an update on our Kodera friends, an update on Thomas' progress through seminary and Andrea's new project Friends for L.I.F.E. (Live In Freedom Everday). In the mean time, if you have not read read about our trips of past take a look under Current Adventures and Adventures to Change a Life.

What's better than playing the Lotto?!

We'll tell ya: The opportunity to give and WIN BIG too!

Sister Missions is all about letting our supporters in on opportunities to help local communities as well as communities around the world. This time we are in Detroit with an opportunity to become one of Detroit's 500 Angels for Angel's Night 2008!

Check out the story of Motor City Blight Busters, Angel's Night/Devil's Night and how your support, "a bit" of community involvement and a change in thought turns the worst night of the year into the SAFEST night of the year.

Oh yes, besides the good, fuzzy feeling of helping out and contributing a wonderful non-profit, by buying a ticket for $100 you also have the chance to win $10,000!!

We Did It!

I think Jeanna and I are still on Africa time! We now have pictures and stories up on the Sisters for Kodera blog. Do Enjoy! We also want to thank all of those who donated. Truly without your support none of this could have happened. You truly had an important impact on the lives of the Koderan leaders, which will affect all of Kodera when they return home!

Thank you to all and may God bless you,

Andrea and Jeanna

Adventure Summary

Welcome to our Adventure Summary page.

To give you a little orientation, the Sister Missions Site is set up as a home base or main location for updates and general information/educational points on all our ADVENTURES through our Journey of life!

To make it easier on the eyes and the brain, each Adventure will have its own site so information will not get mixed up on Sister Missions’ site when more than one Adventure is unfolding. Below is a short description (with last updated date) of each Adventure Sister Missions has been a part of or is planning...

Angel's Night Out, Oct 2008 (updated 10/4/08) On Jeanna’s Detroit home front, Sister Missions is partnering with Urban Detroit Wholesalers to raise money to support Angel's Night and Blight Busters. You must read about how Angel's Night has transformed Oct 29-31 from the most dangerous to the SAFEST night of the year. PLUS you can win $10,000 and become an Angel!

Motor City Blight Busters (TBA) In Detroit, Sister Missions is again partnering with Urban Detroit Wholesalers to plan a HUGE charity event supporting Motor City Blight Busters in late 2009. This is going to be the event of the season! We are not uncovering much information at this time, but be assured that Sister Mission readers will have the scoop first. The site for additional information is not up yet. We will let you know!

Sisters for Kodera, Aug 2008 (updated: 9/08) Andrea and Jeanna went to Kenya this summer as part of Pine Lake Covenant Church’s Kodera team to teach computer skills and life strategies. To see pictures & stories about what we did, where we went, updates from the village, and how you can still help, please click on Sisters for Kodera, Aug 2008 here or under any adventure sidebar.

Andrea’s Africa, July 2007 (updated: 7/08) Another adventure is an off shoot of Andrea’s trip to Karare, Kenya last summer for her thesis research. Click Andrea’s Africa, July 2007 here or under any adventure sidebar to explore friendships made, pictures taken, stories woven and needs developed.

Campbell Farms (updated: 8/08) On Andrea's home front of Seattle, Sister Missions again partnered with PLCC to assist in training the next generation of Mission Adventurers (our youth) and helping people right here is the USA at Campbell Farms. This will be an annual adventure. So check back!

We want you to be a part of the adventures and our journey just as we want the adventures to be a part of your life journey. This site is in no way about us at all! It is about what can happen when people come together in thoughts, prayer, giving, actions and life.

No worries, we will let you know when updates have been made to any of our Adventure sites! Speaking of update, please take a moment now to add SisterMissions@gmail.com to your email’s safe list. We will be sending out all our updates and information from the Sister Missions address. This is not one of those "Do Not Reply" addresses. We would love to hear from you – so add SisterMissions@gmail.com to your contacts also!

We would love to hear from your friends too! Share this site with those you feel would want to come on this adventure with us. Email them any post (maybe this post) entry by clicking the small envelope image at the bottom of the post (to the right of the date stamp). Don't forget to remind them to put SisterMissions@gmail.com on their email safe list!

I know we have said (typed) it before......Change happens only when an element in the equation is altered. An act by one will start a small chain reaction that equals change. Imagine what can happen with one act by many….. Change affects us all even if we are unaware of the effects on ourselves or others. Your one, seemingly small, act done today in your everyday routine could very well be the tipping point for a chain of events leading to a major event in someone else’s life. Do you really know who is watching your actions, listening to your words or who you touch with your compassion? “BE the Change YOU want to see in the World!” and journey with us though adventures taken and BE amazed at what happens through YOUR love and compassion.

Thank you for Joining our Mailing List

Thank you so much for joining Sister Missions' Mailing List! No worries, we will not overload your email with a million messages.

Every Wednesday during the preparation phase of an adventure, we will send out an update and reminder to read the new post. These contain info on the country, the people, the project, thought processes, etc.

While we are on an adventure, we will have a thought, prayer, quote to think on, etc post everyday for readers to facilitate a meditation/thought/prayer moment (prayer while we are gone is very important to the success). If we can get an internet connection while we are away, we will do a live post.

After we return we will be posting our pictures, stories, journal writings, etc.

Just to keep in touch, we will send out periodic newsletters to let you know what we are up to!

Thanks again!

Give a Gift

We are blessed with many opportunities to give in just about as many different ways. Not everyone is called, is able or has the interest to GO on the actual adventure. Is your contribution any less a part of the mission than those who travel? No! You are just as much a part of the mission team by providing funding, prayer, supplies, encouraging words, assistance, etc. You are a vital part of the support team.

Imagine a dance company that has only dancers. Not everyone can be onstage or there would be no lights, sound, ushers, food, costumes, coat checks, riggings, etc. It would not be a very successful show.

Thank you for proving the glue and backbone for the adventures listed. Your contribution, holds together, provides support and creates the mobility for the adventure to move forward. Thank you.

Soon, instead of: [FORM GOES HERE], you will actually see a form to fill out and submit! Yeah! (If ANYONE knows how to properly embed form code without the million blank lines between the header and the first form box, please email Jeanna. Going mad with this one.....)

For now, visit a special page that explains three easy options to Donate NOW!
